Posted Expert Tips on 17 June 2012 - 07:28 PM

Prednisolone each tablet containing 5 mg. Start 35 mg and then taper by 5 mg every 1 day. How many tablets are needed?
Here how prednisone dose tapering works:
First dayt start with 7 tablets of 5 mg and then take less one tablet daily

Day1:  Take 7 tablets
Day 2: Take 6 tablets
Day 3: Take 5 tablets
Day 4: Take 4 tablets
Day 5: Take 3 tablets
Day 6: Take 2 tablets
Day 7: Take 1 tablet

So pharmacist dispensed 28 tablets (7+6+5+4+3+2+1).
Patient takes prednisone for 7 days
