1. Ms. Z, a 20-year-old female patient is being treated with triple therapy for some stomach problem characterized by a pain. She describes the pain as a sensation of hunger which starts between her navel and breastbone and extends to the back and lasts for few minutes to hours. The symptoms are relieved by an over-the-counter antacid. She does not know the prevalence of H. pylori infection in her area when asked. She has no chronic medical conditions and not on any medications except for the antacid she often takes to relieve the gastric pain. Ms. Z does not have any allergies. The doctor then started a quadruple therapy for Ms. Z that includes omeprazole 20 mg bid po, amoxicillin 1 g bid po, clarithromycin 500 mg bid po and Metronidazole 500 mg bid. After 5 days of treatment, she reports experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. What could have possibly caused these problems?
