Statin induced myopathy

 

Step 1: characteristic of symptoms often bilateral or symmetrical, aching pain muscles as group, and muscle weakness (NO JOINT PAINS)

 

Step 2; Onset of symptoms typically weeks to few months

 

Step 3: Risk factors such as DIs (fibrates, CYP 3A4 Inh). Dose of statins and patient factor like > 65 yrs. Statins increase blood sugar.
